Online store
Your own domain
Run your store on yourshop.com.
Your store always has an Aiyaar address, like aiyaar.ltd/store/your-address. You can also run it on a domain you own, like yourshop.com. Shoppers then open your store there, and your staff can open the dashboard there too.
Note: Own domains are switched on by Aiyaar for your business. If Settings → Domain says so, press Ask Aiyaar to turn it on to send a request. Only the owner or someone allowed to manage settings can open this page.
Before you start
- Buy a domain from a domain registrar (for example Namecheap, GoDaddy or a local company). Aiyaar does not sell domains.
- Make sure you can sign in to your registrar and open its DNS page. On Namecheap this is called Advanced DNS.
Step 1: Add your domain in Aiyaar
- Open Settings → Domain.
- In Domain, type your domain without http:// or www. For example: yourshop.com.
- Press Add domain.
Aiyaar now shows a table of records to add at your registrar, and the badge Waiting for DNS.
Step 2: Add the DNS records at your registrar
The table on the Domain page shows three rows. Each row has a Type, a Host (type exactly), a Value and Why. They look like this:
| Type | Host | Value | Why |
|---|---|---|---|
| CNAME | @ | the address shown on your page | Sends visitors to Aiyaar |
| CNAME | www | the same address | So www. works too |
| TXT | _aiyaar | aiyaar-verify=… (your own code) | Proves the domain is yours |
- Open your registrar's DNS page for your domain.
- Add each row as a new record. Use the copy button next to each Host and Value so there are no typing mistakes.
- Save the records at your registrar.
Tip: In Host, type exactly what Aiyaar shows, such as @, www or _aiyaar. Your registrar adds ".yourshop.com" by itself, so never type the full name.
If your registrar refuses a CNAME record on @, use an ALIAS or ANAME record with the same value instead. The Why column on your page tells you what to do as a last resort.
Remove any old records for @ or www that point somewhere else, or they may get in the way.
Step 3: Verify
DNS changes take from a few minutes to a few hours to spread.
- Go back to Settings → Domain.
- Press Verify.
If something is not right yet, Aiyaar lists what is missing. Fix it at your registrar, wait a little and press Verify again. You can press it as often as you like.
When it works, the badge shows Live since the date, and the page lists your new addresses:
- Online store: https://yourshop.com
- Dashboard: https://yourshop.com/dashboard
- Staff sign-in: https://yourshop.com/auth/login
HTTPS (the padlock)
You do not need to buy a security certificate. Once your domain is verified, Aiyaar sets up HTTPS for it by itself, so shoppers see the padlock in their browser.
What stays the same
- Your Aiyaar address keeps working, so old links still open your store.
- Sign-up, the rider app and Aiyaar Send stay on aiyaar.ltd.
- Once your domain is live, emails to your customers link to your domain.
Change or remove the domain
- Change it: type the new domain in Change domain and press Use this domain. Then add the new records and verify again.
- Check it: press Check again any time to test the records.
- Remove it: press Remove domain and confirm. Your store goes back to its Aiyaar address. You can add a domain again at any time.
