For your trade
Restaurants and cafes
Tables, QR ordering, the kitchen screen and table bills.
When you choose Restaurant & Cafe as your kind of business, Aiyaar sets up a menu with portions, and can add tables with QR ordering, a kitchen screen and one bill per table. Products are called Menu Items.
Your menu
Add each dish or drink as a menu item, the same way as any product. See Add products.
Restaurants get these extra fields:
- Portion: Regular, Large or Family. Each portion is a variant with its own price, so a guest can pick "Biryani, Large".
- Spice Level: Mild, Medium or Hot.
- Vegetarian and Calories.
Units are Plate, Cup and Piece. Group your menu in categories such as Starters, Main Course, Desserts, Drinks and Combos.
The same menu is used in the POS, at the tables and in your online store.
Tables and kitchen screen
Tables, QR ordering and the kitchen screen are switched on by Aiyaar. If you open Tables and see "Tables & kitchen display is not on yet", press Request access.
When it is on, Tables is in the dashboard menu (on a phone, tap the ☰ button at the top).
Add your tables
- Open Tables and press Add table.
- Enter a Name (T1, Rooftop 2…) and the number of Seats.
- Press Save.
Tap a table's pencil button to edit it later. There you can:
- turn off Taking orders: its QR code stops working and it leaves the floor;
- press Make a new code if an old QR code should stop working (then print the new one);
- press Delete to remove the table.
Print the QR codes
Each table has its own QR code.
- Open Tables and press Print QR codes.
- Choose A4 paper or 80 mm receipt roll.
- Print, cut along the lines and put each card on its table.
Guests order from their phone
A guest scans the QR code on the table. Their phone opens your menu, with no app and no sign-up.
- The guest picks items and portions, and can add a Note for the kitchen, like "less spicy, no onion".
- They press Order.
- The order goes straight to the kitchen screen and onto the table's bill.
The guest sees their orders for the table and how each one is going: Sent to kitchen, Being cooked, Ready, Served. They pay when they leave.
Take an order at the table
Staff can order for a guest too:
- Open Tables and tap the table.
- Choose Add items.
- Pick the items, add a note if needed, and press Send to kitchen.
To send any other order to the kitchen, for example a takeaway, open the order in Orders and press Send to kitchen. See Orders.
The kitchen screen
Open Tables and press Kitchen screen. Use it on any tablet or TV with a browser in the kitchen.
Orders show as tickets in three columns:
| Column | Button on the ticket |
|---|---|
| New | Start cooking |
| Cooking | Ready |
| Ready to serve | Served |
Each ticket shows the table (or Takeaway or Online), the items and the note. When the cook presses Served, the ticket leaves the screen.
Tip: Press Turn sound on so the kitchen hears each new ticket, and use the full screen button so the tickets fill the screen.
Floor plan
Tables has two views: Floor plan and List. In both, each table shows how it is doing:
- Free: nobody is ordering.
- Eating: there is an open bill. The floor plan shows the amount so far; the list shows how many minutes they have been there.
- Food ready to serve: the kitchen marked an order ready.
On the Floor plan, the owner or a manager can drag tables to match your room. Bigger tables show for more seats. Tap a table to open its bill.
Close a table into one bill
All the orders from one table add up to one bill, however many rounds they ordered.
- Open Tables and tap the table.
- On Bill, check the items and the Total.
- Press Print bill if the guest wants it on paper.
- Choose how they paid under Paid by.
- Press Close bill and confirm.
The money is received, anything still on the kitchen screen counts as served, and the table is free again.
