Sell with the POS

The POS is the till for your counter. You add items by tapping, searching or scanning, take the money and print a receipt, all in one screen.

#Open the POS

1. In the dashboard, tap POS in the top bar.
2. If the cash register is closed, Aiyaar asks you to open it first. Count the cash in the drawer, type it in Opening cash and tap Open register. See Cash registers.
3. If you work in more than one shop, pick the shop at the top left. Changing the shop clears the cart.

#Add items to the cart

• Tap an item in the grid. Use the category buttons (All, then your categories) to see fewer items.
• Search by name in the search box. Press F2 to jump to it.
• Scan with a USB barcode scanner: it types the code and adds the item straight to the cart.
• Scan with the camera: tap the camera button in the search box and hold the barcode or QR code inside the frame. Items are added as they are read. Tap Done when you finish.

Items with no stock show Out. Aiyaar warns you, but you can still add them.

On a phone the cart sits under the item grid. Scroll down to see it.

#Change quantities

• Tap + and − next to an item, or type the number in the box.
• Tap the bin button to remove an item. Tap Clear to empty the whole cart.

Selling by weight: if a product's unit allows fractions (for example kg or litre), you can type a quantity like 0.75. You set this in Catalog setup → Units with Allow fractions.

#Discounts and coupons

• Discount on one item: tap the % button on that item line, choose Percent or an amount, and tap Apply.
• Discount on the whole bill: tap Discount under the cart.
• Coupon: tap Coupon, type the code and tap Apply. To take a discount or coupon off, open it again and tap Remove.

The cart shows Subtotal, Discounts, Tax (if your products have tax) and the Total.

#Pick a customer

The box at the top of the cart says Walk-in customer. Type a name, phone or email to find a customer. If nobody matches, tap Add "…" as a new customer and fill in name, phone and email.

When you pick a customer you see what they owe and their points. If the customer is in a group with a member discount, that discount is added to each item by itself. See Customers and loyalty.

#Loyalty points

If customer points are turned on and the customer has enough points, the cart shows their points. Tap + next to Use points to take the reward off this bill. The customer earns new points on every sale where they are picked.

#Take payment

1. Tap Pay (F9), or press F9.
2. The Take payment window shows To pay. Choose the method: Cash, Card, bKash / Nagad or Bank (the list depends on your country).
3. For cash, type the amount or tap a quick amount. Aiyaar shows the Change to give.
4. For card or mobile pay you can type a Reference (card slip or transaction id).
5. Tap Complete sale.

Split payment: if part is still unpaid, tap Split: add another method, for example half cash and half bKash. Only cash can be more than the total.

#Sell on credit (baki)

If the customer pays less than the total, the rest goes on their account as baki.

1. Pick a customer first. You cannot sell on credit to a walk-in customer.
2. In Take payment, type what they pay now (or 0).
3. Under Pay by (optional), tap 3 days, 7 days, 15 days or 30 days, or pick a date. You get a reminder that morning.
4. Tap Complete, … on credit.

#After the sale: receipts

The Sale complete window shows the total, the change and any amount left on the customer's account.

• Tap Receipt to print a till receipt, or Invoice for a full-page invoice.
• Tap New sale to start the next customer.
• If the customer has an email address, the receipt is emailed to them.

To print a receipt again, tap Sales at the top, open the sale and tap Reprint.

#Hold a sale

Serving someone else while one customer is still choosing?

1. Tap Hold under the cart. Add a note if you like, such as "man in blue shirt".
2. Later, tap Held at the top and then Resume. The cart must be empty first.

#Returns and exchanges at the till

Tap Sales to see this register's sales. Open a sale and tap Return or Exchange. See Orders, returns and exchanges.

#POS settings

Tap the settings button at the top right. These settings are saved on this device only:

• Receipt paper: 80 mm or 58 mm thermal roll.
• Print the receipt automatically after each sale.
• Beep when an item is scanned.
• Lock the screen when idle, after 2 to 15 minutes.

The cash drawer opens through the receipt printer, if your printer is set to open it when it prints.

#Lock the screen

Set a POS PIN in My profile first. Then tap the lock button at the top to lock the POS when you step away. Type your PIN and tap Unlock to come back.
