For your trade
Pharmacies
Generic names, selling by tablet or strip, prescriptions and expiry.
When you choose Pharmacy as your kind of business, Aiyaar adds what a medicine shop needs: generic names, selling by tablet, strip or box, prescriptions, and batches with expiry dates. Products are called Medicines in the menu.
Medicine details
When you add or edit a medicine (see Add products), the Specifications part of the form has these extra fields:
- Generic Name, for example Paracetamol.
- Strength, for example 500 mg.
- Dosage Form: Tablet, Capsule, Syrup, Injection, Cream, Drops and more.
- Manufacturer: the company that makes it.
- Prescription Required: tick this for medicines that need a doctor's prescription.
- Tablets per strip and Strips per box.
Pharmacies also get the units Tablet, Strip, Box and Bottle.
Tip: Fill in the generic name on every medicine. It makes searching and finding other brands work.
Sell by tablet, strip or box
Set Tablets per strip and Strips per box once on the medicine, and keep its stock and price per tablet. Aiyaar then counts stock in tablets and shows it in strips and boxes too.
In the POS:
- Tap the medicine.
- A window shows its generic name, strength and stock.
- Tap 1 tablet, 1 strip or 1 box, each with its price.
- Or type how many tablets, strips and boxes the customer wants and press Add.
You can mix them, for example 2 strips and 3 tablets. In your online store, shoppers can also pick Tablet, Strip or Box. See Sell with the POS.
Search by generic name and find other brands
In the POS and in Medicines, type the generic name, for example "paracetamol", to find every brand with that medicine.
When a brand is out of stock, or the customer wants a cheaper one:
- Press the ⇄ button on the medicine's card in the POS (or Other brands of … in the tablet/strip/box window).
- Aiyaar lists the same medicine from other makers, with the maker, price and stock. Same strength ones are marked.
- Tap one to add it to the cart.
Your online store also shows "Other brands of …" on a medicine's page.
Prescription medicines (Rx)
Medicines with Prescription Required ticked carry an Rx badge.
- In the POS, when you add one, Aiyaar reminds you: "Prescription required: check it before selling".
- In your online store, the shopper must tick that they have a prescription and will show it on delivery. Without the tick, the order cannot be placed.
Prescriptions from your online store
Shoppers can upload a photo of their prescription from the Prescription page of your store. These come into Prescriptions in the dashboard menu.
- Open Prescriptions. Search by Name or phone, or choose a status.
- Open a prescription to see the photo and the customer's details.
- Aiyaar reads the medicines on it and matches them to your catalog. Check them against the photo. Medicines you do not have show "Not found in your catalog".
- Press Open in POS to put the matched medicines in the POS cart, then sell as usual. The prescription moves to Ordered.
You can also set the Status yourself (New, Reviewed, Ordered, Closed), add a Note for the team such as "Called back at 4pm, ready for pickup", and press Save. Create an order starts a new order by hand.
Batches and expiry
Every purchase of a medicine goes into stock as a batch with its own expiry date. Aiyaar sells the oldest batch first.
Open Inventory → Batches & expiry. At the top you see three boards:
- Expired: cannot be sold.
- Within 30 days: return or sell first.
- In 31–90 days: keep an eye on them.
Each shows the money in it at cost. You also get an alert on the bell when batches are about to expire. See Batches and expiry.
Return to the supplier or write off
For short-dated or expired stock, on the expiry board:
- Find the batch and press Return to supplier.
- Choose the Supplier; the one you bought it from is suggested first.
- Enter the Quantity (in the smallest unit, for example tablets) and an optional note.
- Confirm. The stock leaves your shop, its value at cost comes off what you owe that supplier, and the return gets its own number.
If you cannot return it, press Write off. The stock leaves as expired, and the loss is recorded. See Purchases.
